Republicans Must Stop Vote Fraud or Lose

The following is a message from the Republican National Lawyers Association via NewsMax. I normally don't pass along paid advertising, but there's some good thoughts / info in here so I'm bending my own rules. I have taken out all but one plea for monetary assistance at the very end. If you're inclined to help, that's great -- it sounds like a great cause. I just didn't like the idea of sharing something that asked you for money, good info or not.

Dear Reader:

Last week Bill O'Reilly on Fox News exposed the fact that the New York Times killed a story about the relationship between ACORN and the Obama campaign conspired in the 2008 election. Other media outlets refuse to disclose how ACORN uses vote fraud to steal elections.
When a paper like the New York Times hides the truth, we live in worrisome times.
At stake is nothing more than our democratic freedoms and way of life.

As you may know, we at the Republican National Lawyers Association have been fighting for a fair election in Minnesota.

On election night, Republican Norm Coleman led by 725 votes. But after a "recount" and questionable activities by the state's liberal Secretary of State, Franken now leads.
We have been fighting and so far Al Franken has yet to be seated.

Franken's Outrage

But we were shocked last week when the three judge panel in Minnesota decided that it is okay to treat voters in different parts of Minnesota differently, instead of treating all voters equally. The judges have basically said that the Equal Protection Clause of the US Constitution does not apply in Minnesota.

And in New York, lawyers are already battling over absentee and military ballots in the special election to fill a vacant seat for Congress. RNLA Members are there right now, helping ensure the vote counting is as fair as possible.

The results show a dead heat, and absentee ballots are crucial. These ballots usually favor the Republicans but at the urging of the Democrat Candidate’s lawyer the counting of absentee ballots is going ahead before the deadline for receipt of absentee ballots from our military and overseas voters even occurs!

Once again, Democrats are trying to disenfranchise military voters because soldiers are perceived to favor Republicans.

This is why our work at the Republican National Lawyers Association is so critical.

Your help is also critical — please support our efforts.

We are the leading group in the Republican Party fighting to ensure that elections are honest and that voters, not lawyers or judges, decide the elections.

Already, we helped stop Harry Reid from seating Al Franken in the Senate as a Senator before the Minnesota Election Process is completed.

We fought for military voters and as a result of the ongoing pressure of groups like the RNLA, the New York Board of Elections initially extended the deadline for the return of military ballots so that the ballots have a chance to get back from places such as Iraq and Afghanistan. Republicans will keep fighting until those votes are counted.

But these are just battles in a longer struggle.

ACORN's Dirty Tricks

Years ago the left realized if they can't win at the ballot box, they could work the process. George Soros backed liberals in various states who became Secretary of State — the chief state officer who usually controls the election process.

The Democrats in Congress worked hard to give liberal groups like ACORN billions — to "register" voters. There have been widespread charges, prosecutions, convictions and allegations of fraud against groups like ACORN.

We need to do what the left has done. We need to organize and prepare. The 2010 elections are fast approaching. We need to train lawyers who will protect your right to vote and have it count!
We also need to expose groups like ACORN — in both the courts and the media.

You can help us do that!

U.S. House Judiciary Chairman John Conyers [D-MI] was so alarmed by the Testimony of RNLA's First Vice President Heather Heidelbaugh about ACORN's activities that he called for a hearing on ACORN.

But other Democrats, led by Subcommittee Chair Jerrold Nadler [D-NY] objected saying there was "no credible evidence" against ACORN.

Even though Mel Watt [D-NC] stated in the same hearing: "I would even stipulate if I were in court that voter fraud does in fact take place. I might even stipulate that ACORN or some of its employees have participated in voter fraud."

But we have more evidence that will force the truth about ACORN out.

As revealed on O’Reilly, New York Times Reporter Stephanie Strom stated in a phone call to an ACORN informant: "I've been asked by my bosses to stand down" and stop reporting on ACORN. This reporter also detailed how the Obama campaign refused to talk about how they gave their donor list to ACORN. The reporter states: "the campaign insisted on speaking only on background. When I asked why, I got the barrage I described earlier. Cleary, I have hit a nerve."

But the liberal New York Times killed the story.

We Need to Prepare Now for the Next Election

We are not afraid to expose this fraud.

We didn't invent the automobile as the Prez noted in his speech to Congress recently.
He's admitted the Kennedy's didn't pay to have his father brought to the states.
He's picked one snarky tax-dodger after another for his Cabinet.
He trashed the British Prime Minister.
He's stooped to going after Rush Limbaugh and Krammer (not very Presidential Mr. Obama). He came up with the most ridiculous excuse I've ever heard to justify bending to Pelosi-Reid's Omnibus spending debacle.
He promised no earmarks yet his "reform" allows for some earmarks (those HE likes? those Pelosi uses for leverage?).
He gave money to Hamas to rebuild dissing Israel (where's there money for rebuilding after Hamas trashed their country Mr. Obama?).

Those are just a few that immediately popped into my mind. I could go on and on and on.

Here's the latest via The Hill. Yes, it's small, but you'd think someone would do a fact check for the guy. AND, you'd think the almighty press would be having a bit of fun with this as they did when President Bush was in office. (I hear the guffaws, control yourself, get off the floor, stop laughing I tell you, stop!)

Obama Gets Kennedy History Wrong — Ask Sammy Davis

"President Kennedy didn't have the luxury of choosing between civil rights and sending us to the moon," President Obama lectured us during his education speech yesterday.

Unfortunately, the president has his history wrong. It was LBJ, not JFK, who signed the Voting Rights Act.

JFK's civil rights legacy is better defined by two incidents involving Sammy Davis Jr., who campaigned for Kennedy in 1960: Kennedy's disinviting Davis to the Inauguration and, as noted in Wil Haygood's In Black and White, telling an aide at a White House reception with prominent black leaders, "What's he doing here? Get them out of here!" while having Davis and his wife escorted out. You see, Davis was married at the time to actress May Britt, a white woman, and Kennedy didn't want to risk alienating Southern Democrats by being photographed with an interracial couple.

"Sammy Davis wrote a book called Yes, I Can. I sent him a wire and said, 'No, you can't,' " Frank Sinatra would joke on stage, but JFK's shabby treatment of Davis was no joke — and no profile in courage for civil rights.

Given Obama's appropriation of Sammy's book title (and his song), one would think he knows that.

I haven't heard one good thing that's going to come out of the so-called stimulus package. I know the O says it's going to create jobs, but enough to warrant spending that much money?

I saw a bit on the news last night showing that the stimulus was already putting people to work. They showed a construction crew working and said they went back to work as a result of the stimulus.

Now, for one thing, it was an ongoing construction site with pipes and pilings already in the ground. For another, the money hasn't gotten anywhere yet.

I would "assume" they were implying that the city or county called the guys the minute the stimulus was signed and said, hey, we're going to be getting some money so go back to work tomorrow???

Whatever. I think it's just media-O-love at work.

Obama’s Take out The Trash Day Networks help new administration side-step abortion controversy.

Former President George W. Bush reinstated a policy in 2001 that restricted foreign countries using American dollars for abortions. CBS political consultant Craig Crawford called the action “red meat to the Bible Belt conservatives.”

Just three days after taking office, President Barack Obama rescinded the Mexico City Policy, a policy set into place by Ronald Reagan that prohibited American funding for foreign abortions. Have the media called it red meat for liberals? No. They’ve mostly been silent.

Signing on the Sneak

Obama signed the executive order late on Jan. 23, the day after the 36th anniversary of Roe v. Wade. It was also Friday, a moment that TIME magazine’s Amy Sullivan called, “a time traditionally reserved for the release of information an administration would like to bury.” During the Clinton administration, Friday afternoon was the time for “document dumps,” when the scandal-ridden White House released embarrassing pieces of its paper trail.

Even Hollywood recognizes the timing for what it is – a calculated strategy to avoid tough press. Characters in the liberal political drama “The West Wing” refer to such days as “take out the trash day.” “The West Wing,” by the way, is a show whose ultimate fantasy -- a young, Democratic congressman from nowhere becoming president --fulfilled in Obama’s election.

Sullivan reported that Obama “wants to turn down the heat on an issue that has defined and divided American politics for more than three decades” and based on the media coverage of his decision, it seems to have worked.

CBS and NBC barely mentioned the change in policy during the Jan. 23, 2009 Evening News and Nightly News broadcasts. On the Saturday “Early Show,” CBS correspondent Kimberly Dozier noted during a wrap-up of the president’s first few days in office that “Mr. Obama also quietly stepped into the abortion debate” with his executive order that overturned the ban on funding for foreign abortions.

Only ABC acknowledged the controversial nature of Obama’s decision, two days after the fact during World News Sunday. Correspondent Sharyn Alfonsi noted that the president hoped “not to provoke anti-abortion groups” with the order, and that “it didn’t work.” Alfonsi also featured Tony Perkins, president of the pro-life Family Research Council, who said that Obama “does not have consensus and support from, from the majority of Americans” on social issues.

No networks reported the fact that in a 55-page “wish list” sent to the Obama-Biden transition team by abortion rights groups, reinstating American funding for foreign abortions topped the list with regard to international matters.

Bush “Pleased” the Right

What a difference from eight years ago. Then, Crawford wasn’t the only person accusing Bush of playing politics.

Dan Rather, “CBS Evening News” anchor, introduced a Jan. 22, 2001 report on Bush’s reinstatement of the policy by calling it “something to quickly please the right flank in his party.” John Roberts, chief White House correspondent at CBS, noted “the president waded into controversy on this first day” and “in a nod to anti-abortion groups…announced he’ll cut federal funding to organizations that provide family planning and abortion counseling overseas.”

Roberts’ report also featured criticism by Gloria Feldt, then-president of Planned Parenthood, “The fundamental human and civil right to make our own child-bearing choices is at greater threat than it has been anytime in the 28 years since Roe vs. Wade was decided.” Feldt’s comment re-aired during CBS’ Jan. 23, 2001” The Early Show.” CBS failed to provide a pro-life counterpoint to Feldt.

ABC White House correspondent Terry Moran said Bush’s decision was “designed to appeal to anti-abortion conservatives” on the Jan. 22, 2001 “World News Tonight.”

Newsweek’s Howard Fineman told NBC’s Matt Lauer during the Jan. 23, 2001 “Today” that with the executive order stopping the flow of American money to foreign abortion providers, “George W. Bush following a plan. Secure the base. The Christian right is fundamental to the Republican Party and to his presidency.”

Later in the same broadcast, anchor Ann Curry ignored the pro-life support Bush enjoyed as a result of his executive order. She reported, “Abortion rights supporters are condemning the president’s order Monday, restoring a Reagan-era ban on U.S. funding of overseas family planning groups that advocate abortion.”

Explain and Inform

One thing remained constant in the network coverage from then until Obama’s overturning of the Mexico City Policy: no explanation of the policy aside from as ABC’s Chris Cuomo noted on the Jan. 23, 2009 Good Morning America, “the policy was put in place by Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton overturned, but it was reinstituted by George W. Bush.”

But the same day, Family Research Council’s Tom McClusky succinctly explained the policy and what it means now that Obama has rescinded it:

In as little words as possible, the Mexico City policy halts U.S. family planning funds from going to foreign non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that perform abortions or "actively promote" abortion as a method of family planning in other countries… The effect of President Obama rescinding the Mexico City Policy is that now millions ($461 million in the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2008) of dollars are taken away from family planning groups that do not promote abortion, and delivered into the hands of organizations that are the most militant in promoting abortion as a population-control method - especially in countries that find abortion objectionable on moral grounds.

ABC may not have covered the story immediately or explained the policy, but the network did recognize that allowing organizations to spend American dollars on abortion is not accepted by all. CBS and NBC failed the American public by not explaining what the policy does and also by not holding Obama to the same scrutiny they held Bush to back in 2001.

Hey Libs...

I just learned that anyone who uses the term "libs" is considered trash. You have to take into consideration that the one calling me (or anyone using the term lib) trash has a rather trashy mouth and obviously a whole lotta hate swirling around inside their gut.

I sure wish people could get past the hate. I don't hate my lib friends, who by the way, have no problem with the title. We cut up and have a good time. They wouldn't support Sarah Palin any more than I'd support Barack Obama, but we can have intelligent conversations without rancor.

Ah well, people's words tell a lot about their character.

I do think it's sad that the fringes cause so much turmoil. There are fringe elements on both side of the aisle. It doesn't take much to set them off. Fortunately, the majority of us can agree to disagree and still be willing to sit in the same room without spitting at each other. Unfortunately, the fringe element catches attention and oft times manages to intimidate the middle.

One thing I've noticed about the Sarah Palin haters is they don't seem to know much about her. They simply repeat talking points that have no basis in fact or reality.

I have to run, going to meet some of my lib... left... progressive... whatever you want to call 'em, along with some independent and conservative, friends to work on a charity project... together... in harmony... I'll let the libs know they're conspiring with trash to do good.

Sorry I haven't been writing much this past month, I've been extremely, extremely busy at work and in my personal life. I'm still supporting Sarah 5000%. I'm reading and watching the news and can't believe they're still attacking her! Give it up already. It's hard to change a liberal's mind once they've been brainwashed. Facts just don't get in the way once their leaders have spread the word.

Remember that movie "The Time Machine"? Like lemmings the libs play until the siren sounds, then they trek to their destruction. It is SO frustrating at times when I see the obvious twisting of information and hear the bots mouthing the mantra without ever being able to back up things up with facts.

When I ask "how do you know this or that" the answer is something along the lines of "everyone knows it's true". Everyone doesn't include yours truly!

I'm back and I'm blogging to support Sarah. Hope you all have the best new year you can with you-know-who at the helm trying to ruin our democracy.

President Bush, the free market, and the media

I've been fairly supportive of President Bush. I have disagreed strongly with some of his stances, such as the one on immigration, but overall I've thought he got a bad rap when it came to the way the media treated him. I give him credit for many things, primarily keeping us safe which I believe is the President's number one priority.

The way he and his cohorts have handled the economy is one where he and I part ways. In an interview with CNN he admitted he had abandoned free market principles to keep the economy from completely tanking (my paraphrase). I believe our country was founded on free market principles and that under no circumstances should we abandon those values. We have embarked on a slippery slope towards socialism and I believe Obama is standing at the bottom of the slope with his arms wide open.

We are headed for a different kind of trouble and we will look back on 2008 as the year our way of life collapsed.

In reading the article below (thanks Drudge Report and Michelle Malkin, Michelle being first to mention this one!), I noted that when they quoted President Bush they quoted him completely, including the gaps, the lapses that permeate his speech. I bring it up simply to contrast the way he is portrayed versus the way the press quotes uh, uh, Obama, uh. They don't include his hesitations, his skipping of words or his flaws. With President Bush they seem to highlight the flaws. Maybe I'm being over sensitive on this one, but I would be we won't be hearing skits on Saturday Night Live dissing' Obama.

Obama Not Connected, But ALL His Friends Are...

The FBI arrested yet another corrupt Chicago politician , Illinois Governor "Hot" Rod Blagojevich. This makes two corrupt governors in a row to be arrested for felonies committed in office -- and it solidifies Chicago, Ill. as the most corrupt city in America, narrowly edging out New Orleans. Also arrested was corrupt Chicago politician and Blagojevich Chief of Staff John Harris. The two are accused of attempting to "auction off" Barack Obama's vacated Senate seat to the highest bidder from the corrupt Chicago political scene. An unknown number of other corrupt Chicago politicians and staffers are also under investigation.

Wow! It's a good thing America didn't just elect a longtime Chicago politician to be the next President of the United States.

Oh...wait, that's just what we did. That's why Obama's Senate seat was vacant and available to be auctioned off to some lucky cash-and-carry Democrat contender. Oh well, I'm sure that The Sacred Dalai Obama is not connected to this scandal or Blagojevich in any other way. Very reassuring was Obama's claim Tuesday that "I had no contact with the governor or his office and so we were not, I was not, aware of what was happening."

The only problem is that one of Obama's senior advisors, David Axelrod (a former advisor to Blagojevic) went on Chicago TV on November 23 and said definitively regarding Obama's communications with Blagojevich on whom might acquire Obama's Senate seat: "I know he's talked to the governor and there are a whole range of names many of which have surfaced, and I think he has a fondness for a lot of them..."

Heritage Foundation: Obama to Tax Everything, Send Money to Kuwait Millionaires

Barack Obama’s Undemocratic Plan to Tax Everything You Do and Send the Money to Millionaires in Kuwait

Despite the 5,800 miles between them, events yesterday in Poznan, Poland, and Sacramento, Calif., shed a frightening light on the direction President-elect Barack Obama's administration wants to take our country on energy policy. First in Poznan, Sen. John Kerry (D-MA) promised delegates at an international climate conference that "Congress and the president-elect are committed to movement on mandatory goals as rapidly as possible." According to Obama's transition website , the preferred enforcement mechanism for these mandatory goals would be a cap-and-trade system for greenhouse gas emissions, which any honest economist will tell you is really just an energy tax dressed up in drag. Meanwhile, in Sacramento, the unelected California Air Resources Board approved "the nation's most sweeping plan to reduce global warming by curbing emissions." Like Obama's plan, California's plan features "an elaborate cap-and-trade program" at its core.

What makes California's cap-and-trade plan so scary is that voters never had, and never will have, an opportunity to debate and vote on its implementation. The plan is being implemented entirely through the administrative process. None of the members of California board have ever had to, or ever will, face the voters. They are appointed by the governor.

Could a similar thing happen on the federal level? Yes. Obama has already signaled he will pursue that route. Earlier this month he appointed two co-chairmen to his EPA transition team who are leading advocates of using authority from the Clean Air Act to implement a national cap-and-trade system through the EPA without congressional approval. In fact, the EPA has already begun the rule-making process. The plan would invasively regulate every sector of the American economy, ultimately cost 2.9 million manufacturing jobs and reduce aggregate gross domestic product by $6.9 trillion by 2029. The EPA does not take a position on whether the allowances of the cap-and-trade plan will be given away or auctioned off. But with liberals in charge, it is almost guaranteed cap and trade will be treated as government cash cow.

What will Washington do with all the revenue from this new massive energy tax? For that answer, we must travel back to Poznan where the delegates from the world's developing nations continue to refuse to make any firm commitments to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions unless developed countries, the United States chief among them, pony up the cash to ease the economic hardship all carbon emission reduction entails. Mexico made headlines with its promise to reduce emissions by 50% by 2020. But reading deeper we learn from the Washington Post (emphasis added):

Fernando Tudela, Mexico's vice minister of environment and natural resources, emphasized the need for financial help from richer nations. At a news conference Thursday, he said that Mexico will set "aspirational goals" but that the extent to which they would be met "will depend on the kind of support we can find in the international regime."

Thanks to antiquated definitions still used by the United Nations, wealthy nations like Singapore, Kuwait, and Qatar are all not only exempt from the more stringent carbon caps that "rich" nations face, but are also eligible for any funds "poor" countries would receive from any international treaty on climate change.

As our economy struggles to recover, our leaders should be working to lower our energy costs and develop our own natural resources, not enacting complex regulatory schemes that will crush our economy and send our hard-earned money overseas.

Saw video and comments earlier on our Read My Lipstick Network's Team Sarah page on how Barack Obama is promising to bankrupt coal industry with his policies. Now here's another one Janet found and posted:

You'll note that in one paragraph he signs onto the trickle down theory of economics... HE FORCES industry to make changes that cause them to raise their prices for the consumer. I bet there are some layoffs involved in his plan, too. Stands to reason that if he's going to bankrupt the coal industry there'll be a lot of people in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Virginia and other coals states standing their clinging to their guns and religion in the food lines.

Um, if you can’t persuade the American people that yes, there is going to be some increase in electricity rates on the front end, but that over the long term, because of combinations of more efficient energy usage, changing lightbulbs and more efficient appliance, but also technology improving how we can produce clean energy, the economy would benefit.

If we can’t make that argument persuasively enough, you — you, uh, can be Lyndon Johnson, you can be the master of Washington. You’re not going to get that done."

I've been talking with Barracuda Babe and Dots for Dummies and a few other friend bloggers about their comments.

Every single comment we get from Obama types includes something so nasty about John McCain or Sarah Palin that we can't publish their comments.

I don't have a problem posting opposing views, that's what makes for a good discussion. Intelligent, respectful disagreement is perfectly fine. I'll get a really good thought from someone on the "other side" but it's surrounded by vicious personal attacks that I wouldn't say about my worst enemy, much less allow the comment. Most, but not all, come from individuals known only as "anonymous".

What is it about Obama supporters that they have to be so ugly? Is that the mindset that wants to run our country? Is that the kind of people that are attracted to this man? I have never experienced such hate before. I know how my mother felt when she used to say she needed to wash someone's mouth out with soap. Some brains need to be scrubbed!

I'm so glad these blogs have the ability to monitor comments.

This is it, the last push and you are needed to get our Sarah and John McCain elected on Tuesday. Most early voting is over, although in some states they vote through the weekend. Now we have three days, just three short days, to get to those who are undecided. Strange as it sounds, there are some who still haven't made up their minds.

I heard on the news yesterday from someone, they all start to run together, that the undecided aren't really undecided, they just don't want to say they're not voting for Obama.

I know that is happening in some cases as I have two friends who have told me confidentially that they're voting for John McCain but they're black and they would never live it down if they admitted to their family and church body that they don't support Obama.

In the privacy of the voting booth, not that there are real booths anymore, many will be pushing the McCain-Palin spot in secrecy.

I'm excited as I hear all the good news coming from our friends across the US, and even some of the media hype seems to be getting a tad, a tiny tad, more honest and favorable.

The State of the Campaign

If your television is tuned to cable news as frequently as ours are here at campaign headquarters, you have seen the pundits say John McCain and his campaign are done. And, if you've followed this race since the beginning, this is clearly a song you've heard before. I wanted to take some time today to give you some insight on the state of the race as we see it.

An AP poll released this morning revealed a very telling fact:

ONE out of every SEVEN voters is undecided.

That means, if 130 million voters turn out on Tuesday, 18.5 million of them have yet to make up their mind. With that many votes on the table and the tremendous movement we've seen in this race, I believe we are in a very competitive campaign. Here's why: All the major polls have shown a tightening in the race and a significant narrowing of the numbers. In John McCain's typical pattern, he is closing strong and surprising the pundits. We believe this race is winnable, and if the trajectory continues, we will surpass the 270 Electoral votes needed on Election Night.

National Polls: Major polls last week showed John McCain trailing by double-digit margins - but by the middle of this week, we were within the margin of error on four national tracking surveys. In fact, the Gallup national tracking survey showed the race in a virtual tie 2 days this week.

State Polls:

Iowa - Our numbers in Iowa have seen a tremendous surge in the past 10 days. We took Obama's lead from the double digits to a very close race. That is why you see Barack Obama visiting the state in the final days, trying to stem his losses. It is too little, too late. Like many other Midwestern states, Iowa is moving swiftly into McCain's column.

The Southwest - It is no secret that Republican candidates in the Southwest have to focus on winning over enough Latino and Hispanic voters in Nevada, New Mexico and Colorado to carry them to victory. John McCain has overcome challenges Republicans face, and has made up tremendous ground in these states with these voters. For these voters, the choice has become clear, and you have seen a big change in the numbers. John McCain is now winning enough voters to perform within the margin of error - putting these states within reach.

Colorado - Barack Obama tried to outspend our campaign in Colorado during the early weeks of October and finish off our candidate in Colorado. However, after our visit early this week, we saw a tremendous rebound in our poll position, and Colorado is back on the map.

Ohio and Pennsylvania - Everyone knows that vote rich Ohio and Pennsylvania will be key battlegrounds for this election. Between the two: 41 electoral votes and no candidate has gotten to the White House without Ohio. Senator McCain and Governor Palin have been campaigning non-stop in these key battleground states and tonight Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has pumped up our campaign at a rally in Columbus. Our position in these states is strong and undecided voters continue to have a very favorable impression of our candidate.

Obama campaign faces tremendous structural challenges in the final days of this campaign

Obama has a challenge hitting 50%: Barack Obama has not reached the 50% threshold in almost any the battleground state. He consistently is performing in the 45-48% range. When we look closely at the primary votes, we see a history of a candidate whose Election Day performance is often at or behind his final polling numbers. If this is true, our surge will leave Obama with even or under 50% of the vote on Election Day.

Early Vote: The Obama campaign has promised that their early vote and absentee efforts will change the composition of the electorate. They have sold the press on a story that first time voters will turn out in droves this election cycle. Again, the facts undermine their argument. In our analysis of early voting and absentee votes to date: The composition of the electorate has not changed significantly and most folks who have voted early are high propensity voters who would have voted regardless of the high interest in this campaign.

Expanding the Field: Obama is running out of states if you follow out a traditional model. Today, he expanded his buy into North Dakota, Georgia and Arizona in an attempt to widen the playing field and find his 270 Electoral Votes. This is a very tall order and trying to expand into new states in the final hours shows he doesn't have the votes to win.

The Final Barnstorm

On Monday, we will have a 14 state rally with our candidates crisscrossing the country trying to turn out our voters and sway the final undecided voters. Governor Palin will hit Ohio, Missouri, Iowa, Colorado, Nevada and Alaska in the final day of campaigning, while Senator McCain will travel from Tampa, Florida, to Virginia, then Pennsylvania, Indiana, New Mexico, Nevada and finish the night in Prescott, Arizona. T

he enthusiasm and excitement we generate on Monday will be the electricity that powers our "Get Out the Vote" efforts on Tuesday.

On the Ground

Our field organization has tremendous energy and is out-performing the Bush campaign at the same time in 2004. This week our field organization crossed a huge threshold and began reaching more than one million voters per day, and by week's end will have contacted more than 5 million voters. Our phone centers are full and our rate of voter contact is significantly out-pacing the Bush campaign in 2004. We have the resources to do the voter contact necessary to support the surge we are seeing in our polling with old fashioned grassroots outreach.

On the Airwaves

In the final days of the campaign, our television presence will be bigger and broader than the Obama campaign's presence. The full Republican effort - the RNC's Independent Expenditure and the McCain campaign will out-buy Barack Obama and the Democrats by just about 10 million dollars.

In short: the McCain campaign is surging in the final 72 hours. Our grassroots campaign is vibrant and communicating to voters in a very powerful way. Our television presence is strong. Poll fluctuations

I don't have a clue why anyone would believe any poll. Have you seen the fluctuation these past few days and at other times, too? One day there's an 11 point spread, the next two. Who are they polling? The village idiots? They can't be polling the same people each day when they call their 200 or 5000 person sampling can they?

I think there's some tom-foolery going on out there. It's an underground movement to discredit the polls.

I remember when they used to have those boxes on top of the television to do the TV ratings. We had one for a while and we used to have fun turning on programs we weren't watching, sitting in front of the television for programs we hated and doing other things we thought would mess it up. Yes, we were silly.

It's human nature to play games, and to try and be something we're not. It's cool in some circles to say you'll vote or to say you'll vote for Obama. When your spouse, who thinks you're going to vote one way, is sitting on the couch while you're polled, how are you going to answer?

If the people who are out there being polled are really swinging from one party to the other that wildly, we need to change our voting requirements because we have idiots electing those who run our country.

Here's what I really think is going on:

There are close to 200 polls being done (I think the actual number being reported on is 177) as apposed to about 1/4 to 1/3 of that number in past elections.

It's harder to reach people.

People are giving up land lines and going to cell phones only, which I understand costs more to call and poll. Plus I'd imagine it's harder to find the numbers.

Some of the respected pollsters have changed their methodology. They've been wrong so many times they're trying to find their way to accuracy and as you see by polls that continue to fluctuate like the tides, they're not there yet.

There are a lot of people who've never voted before who have signed up and thus are considered to be "likely voters". A lot of them are new, easily led, unsure of the process, don't value the importance of their vote, and some flat out like to tweak pollsters.

I'm feeling a ground swell for John McCain and Sarah Palin. I think Joe the Plumber, spread the wealth, Ayers, Wright and all the other associations are eroding the support for Obama among the moderates and independents. I think they're seeing things like the wild attacks on anyone who crosses Obama's path and seeing a glimpse of the future. I don't know if it's too little too late, but I have hope that we're going to see the true comeback kid pull this one out on November 4th.

I pray that the intelligent voters come out and all the village idiots stay home through November 4th. The dummies can vote on Nov. 5th.

I only wish John McCain had been able to unveil Sarah earlier! I understand that it wasn't possible and that part of her charm is the surprise of having her, but she has brought such energy to McCain's campaign.

The media and Democrats got off on the wrong foot when they came out in such meanness against her. They've revised their strategy and it is having an affect on the easily led, however you can see by the crowds she's attracting that it ain't workin' near good 'nuff. She has armour that makes Barack Obama's look like aluminum foil.

Not that Obama ever has to worry about the media going after him a fraction as bad as they have against Sarah Palin. Obama can't even handle tough questions posed by Fox News. Fair questions that should be asked by all of the media if they weren't so in love with the idea of Obama. Wait until he turns on them if he's elected. By the time they realize what he is and what he's doing their voice will be nothing but his.

Love Sarah Palin! She is so REAL. I'd have her over for dinner in a heart beat.

About 50 parishioners were locked into the Assemblies of God church before it was set ablaze. They were mostly women and children. Those who tried to flee were hacked to death by machete-wielding members of a mob numbering 2,000.

The 2008 New Year Day atrocity in the Kenyan village Eldoret, about 185 miles northwest of Nairobi, had all the markings of the Rwanda genocide of a decade earlier.

By mid-February 2008, more than 1,500 Kenyans were killed. Many were slain by machete-armed attackers. More than 500,000 were displaced by the religious strife. Villages lay in ruin. Many of the atrocities were perpetrated by Muslims against Christians.

The violence was led by supporters of Raila Odinga, the opposition leader who lost the Dec. 27, 2007, presidential election by more than 230,000 votes. Odinga supporters began the genocide hours after the final election results were announced Dec. 30. Mr. Odinga was a member of Parliament representing an area in western Kenya, heavily populated by the Luo tribe, and the birthplace of Barack Obama's father.

Mr. Odinga had the backing of Kenya's Muslim community heading into the election. For months he denied any ties to Muslim leaders, but fell silent when Sheik Abdullahi Abdi, chairman of the National Muslim Leaders Forum, appeared on Kenya television displaying a memorandum of understanding signed on Aug. 29, 2007, by Mr. Odinga and the Muslim leader. Mr. Odinga then denied his denials.

The details of the MOU were shocking. In return for Muslim backing, Mr. Odinga promised to impose a number of measures favored by Muslims if he were elected president. Among these were recognition of "Islam as the only true religion," Islamic leaders would have an "oversight role to monitor activities of ALL other religions [emphasis in original]," installation of Shariah courts in every jurisdiction, a ban on Christian preaching, replacement of the police commissioner who "allowed himself to be used by heathens and Zionists," adoption of a women's dress code, and bans on alcohol and pork.

This was not Mr. Odinga's first brush with notoriety. Like his father, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, the main opposition leader in the 1960s and 1970s, Raila Odinga is a Marxist He graduated from East Germany's Magdeburg University in 1970 on a scholarship provided by the East German government. He named his oldest son after Fidel Castro.

Raila Odinga was implicated in the bloody coup attempt in 1982 against then-President Daniel Arap Moi, a close ally of the United States. Kenya has been one of the most stable democracies in Africa since the 1960s. The ethnic cleansing earlier this year was the worst violence in Kenya since that 1982 coup attempt.

Mr. Odinga spent eight years in prison. At the time, he denied guilt but later detailed he was a coup leader in his 2006 biography. Statue of limitations precluded further prosecution when the biography appeared.

Initially, Mr. Odinga was not the favored opposition candidate to stand in the 2007 election against President Mwai Kibaki, who was seeking his second term. However, he received a tremendous boost when Sen. Barack Obama arrived in Kenya in August 2006 to campaign on his behalf. Mr. Obama denies that supporting Mr. Odinga was the intention of his trip, but his actions and local media reports tell otherwise.

Mr. Odinga and Mr. Obama were nearly inseparable throughout Mr. Obama's six-day stay. The two traveled together throughout Kenya and Mr. Obama spoke on behalf of Mr. Odinga at numerous rallies. In contrast, Mr. Obama had only criticism for Kibaki. He lashed out against the Kenyan government shortly after meeting with the president on Aug. 25. "The [Kenyan] people have to suffer over corruption perpetrated by government officials," Mr. Obama announced.
"Kenyans are now yearning for change," he declared. The intent of Mr. Obama's remarks and actions was transparent to Kenyans - he was firmly behind Mr. Odinga.

Mr. Odinga and Mr. Obama had met several times before the 2006 trip. Reports indicate Mr. Odinga visited Mr. Obama during trips to the U.S. in 2004, 2005 and 2006. Mr. Obama sent his foreign policy adviser Mark Lippert to Kenya in early 2006 to coordinate his summer visit. Mr. Obama's August trip coincided with strategizing by Orange Democratic Movement leaders to defeat Mr. Kibaki in the upcoming elections. Mr. Odinga represented the ODM ticket in the presidential race.

Mr. Odinga and Mr. Obama's father were both from the Luo community, the second-largest tribe in Kenya, but their ties run much deeper. Mr. Odinga told a stunned BBC Radio interviewer the reason why he and Mr. Obama were staying in near daily telephone contact was because they were cousins. In a Jan. 8, 2008, interview, Mr. Odinga said Mr. Obama had called him twice the day before while campaigning in the New Hampshire primary before adding, "Barack Obama's father is my maternal uncle."

President Kibaki requested a meeting of all opposition leaders in early January in an effort to quell the violence. All agreed to attend except Mr. Odinga. A month later, Mr. Kibaki offered Mr. Odinga the role of prime minister, the de facto No. 2 in the Kenyan government, in return for an end to the attacks. Mr. Odinga was sworn in on April 17, 2008.

Mr. Obama's judgment is seriously called into question when he backs an official with troubling ties to Muslim extremists and whose supporters practice ethnic cleansing and genocide. It was Islamic extremists in Kenya who bombed the U.S. Embassy in 1998, killing more than 200 and injuring thousands. None of this has dissuaded Mr. Obama from maintaining disturbing loyalties.

On one of my previous posts someone commented on the parents of unborn children having rights. They then went on to talk about how we are fighting, soldiers are dying and we're killing, and so on and so on.

The anonymous comment ended with something about being fed up.

I find it hard to fathom how the rights of living, thinking, supposedly responsible adults is more important than that of an unborn child, or any child for that matter. I find it hard to understand the reasoning that says an adult has the right to kill an unborn child. With the line of reasoning that says the rights of the parent are more important than the life of an unborn child it's just one teeny, tiny step to killing a child that has popped out of the womb and is crying. Whoops, I forgot, Barack Obama supports doing just that if the mother was trying to have an abortion and the child managed to survive.

So have the baby already and give it to someone who wants it. How difficult is it to trade nine months for a life?

I know the following argument doesn't work in the case of incest and rape, but in the vast, vast majority of cases it does: Why not make sure you won't have children in the first place? Why should a child have to pay with its life just because you were too stupid to use birth control?

I used to sit on the fence when it came to the abortion issue. No longer. It's the most selfish of selfish acts. It says you are not responsible for your actions. It says you're willing to kill rather than suffer the inconvenience of having a child. It's a symbol of our current me, me, me lifestyle.

Much as I disagree with it, I can actually understand abortion much better in the days when birth control, aside from abstinence, didn't exist. Even in the days when birth control was hit or miss I could understand it a bit better. I'm not saying I condone it under any circumstances, but it's easier to understand a woman with ten children saying enough is enough 100 years ago than it is to understand today's woman who doesn't want stretch marks.

And speaking to the argument of soldiers fighting for our freedoms and killing other adults who are making the choice to fight back. Adults. Making their own choices. Big difference.

If you don't believe in soldiers killing then how can you condone killing unborn children? Makes not one bit of sense. One wrong in your mind shouldn't be used to justify another wrong.

I happen to believe we need to fight for what is good and right. If we don't fight for what is right, if we're not willing to lay down our lives to keep our freedoms, then we lose. If we hand over our freedom I guarantee there's going to be a whole lot more killing and suffering than we have now!

If I as an adult choose to fight and possibly lay down my life then it is a choice I make. If I choose to abort a child I am killing an innocent being who has no say in the matter.

I know this isn't going to get through the thick brain of anyone who isn't willing to accept responsibility for their actions. I know that the pro-choice aren't going to be convinced. They believe in their choice, not the child's choice. If you don't want to get pregnant then be an adult and do something about it. No excuses these days for an unwanted pregnancy aside from rape and incest.

Birth control. Tubal ligation. Sex change. Choose one if you don't want to get pregnant.

To me, the issue is trust, the issue is that Barack Obama is lying about his relationship with his neighborhood and fellow board member, Bill Ayers.

There have been so many issues that have been raised about Obama's honesty.

I have another problem with the fact that he won't release any information from his college years. What's to hide? Why can't we read his thesis? Who hides something like that if there's nothing inflammatory in it?

If you can't trust your President in the so-called "little things" how the heck do you trust him with the big things? Doesn't character matter anymore?

I wish someone would line up the things he's said in the past with what he's saying now and just show how he's done so many about-faces.

Sadly, I think we could prove he was an out and out liar and still half our country would vote for him.

Did you see that video of those school kids in fatigues pledging their allegiance to Obama and the doctrine of change? That is our future folks! Did you see the video of the school kids singing praises to Obama dressed in their light blue t-shirts? That is our future folks! Chairman Obama.

Anyone who compares Obama to a dictator, to Chavez, to Fidel Castro and their ilk is blasted, yet look at those videos and listen to the similarity of how dictators swayed the public to their side and Obama's speeches. It's not just dictators who do what Obama is doing, it's anyone who leads the masses through the rhetoric of empty promises.

Are we so easily led? Have character and integrity lost their meaning? Have we lost the ability to think independently?

Barack Obama is being shown to be a liar and yet he just brushes it off as though it's no big deal.

It's a big deal to me.

Send Sarah to Michigan!!!

We need to start a movement to get Sarah and Todd to Michigan! Can you imagine the impact it would have if the McCain camp decided in the next week or so to use Sarah to move Michigan into the red column?

I understand marshaling your resources and a strategy to hold and conquer those with highest chances, but I hate to concede Michigan (not that they are, but it seems that way now that they've made such a big deal out of it).

Barack Obama pulled out of a number of states (5 I think) quietly and it made few headlines. John McCain openly announces he's pulled out of one state and you'd think the world had come to an end.

However, if handled right, sending Sarah to Michigan and having huge rallies up there would make a world of difference to Michigan voters. It would be a shot in the arm.

I've been in states and counties where candidates made strategic decisions to move their resources elsewhere. It hurts moral and makes it that much harder to get the enthusiasm needed to win.

We need to support Michigan and we need to start a movement to get Sarah and Todd to hold a few rallies there before November 4th! I know it will be tough because they are going to be going everywhere and will be stretched thin, but I think it's worth the effort if the campaign can make it happen!

(I heard that a video on YouTube showing the Democrats in action has been pulled down. I don't know why but it's not because someone thinks it's false since it was just video of some hearings on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. I think it was because one of the guys being filmed said that the Republicans going after Franklin Raines was like a lynching. Ohio and Florida

The Democrat Obamanitties are making a huge push in both states (among others). In Ohio they are using a law that allows absentee voters to register at the time they vote and they're going after college students. In Florida Bill Clinton is holding rallies and the Dem operatives are pushing to get everyone they can registered by October 6th (deadline).

Whatever state you're in, check to see what the voter registration rules are and if you have time before the deadline passes (if it hasn't already) get out there and register your kids friends, your neighbors and your church members. Get your friends to do the same!

I remember when I was college age and how easy it was to be swept up in the dynamics of whatever was considered cool. I thought I knew it all or at least I didn't exactly listen to anything outside my perceived cool range . You're spoon fed crap at that age and swallow it whole thinking you're changing the world for the better. A lot of these kids who are being swept into the Obama camp, smart as they are in some ways, are going to someday look back and realize they made a huge error in judgement. Hopefully they won't be looking back and regretting it because they made a difference and took the country to ruin by putting Obama in the White House.

I don't mean to sound like chicken-little, but with the country on the verge of nationalizing our financial markets giving power to Obama is about the worst thing I can imagine. We may as well tear up the Constitution if he gets elected.

On last night's debate

I was impressed with John McCain last night. He definitely held his own against Mr. So-Called-Smooth-Talking Barack Obama. Why anyone thinks Obama is a good speaker is beyond me! All those hesitations and "let me be clear's" distract the heck out of me. But then again, he really never seems to say anything of substance so I guess it doesn't matter that much.

All the pundits said Obama was going to come out swinging and try to make John McCain look bad. I think it backfired on Obama because he sure did look put off a number of times. He also never got the best of McCain!

Great debate and I'm glad Kissinger came out and said Obama was wrong when he tried to say he (Kissinger) had supported Obama's assertion that we should talk with terrorist nations without pre-conditions.

Did Obama get the date of the Depression wrong in the first part of the debate? I could have sworn he was off by ten years, but I haven't had a chance to go back and view it again. I guess if he did have the dates wrong that someone would have called him on it by now. No biggie if he did I guess, anyone can make a mistake like that.

Here's one funny I heard Thursday or Friday: Cynthia McKinney, the Green Party candidate for President, said she'd debate Barack Obama if John McCain didn't attend! I would love to have seen that one, wouldn't you? I think there would have been a shouting match before it was all over. But I'm sure Obama would have backed out if that's the way it went down. I liked the idea some floated of having Sarah Palin stand in for Senator McCain if he couldn't do it!

Team Sarah (.com) is a great new website and an easy way to meet other supporters of Sarah. I've been over looking around but haven't joined yet. I will.

There are some excellent sites cropping up in support of Sarah Palin all over the net. One of the new members on our network is the Red State Feminists (.org).

What are we all going to do after Sarah and John McCain win on November 4th? I think Sarah will need our support more than ever in the coming years. If we think the media is full of nasty now, wait until she's in office. There will be more bad jokes and stabs than ever I believe.

I am excited about her debate with Joe Bidenism. They are probably working so hard to try and keep him from adding to the list of Bidenisms that it will be impossible for him not to make another!

Did anyone see David Letterman Thursday night? Talk about being hot under the collar! I can't exactly blame him for being mad, but he did get a bit carried away. If I had invited someone to my show (or house) and they cancelled and told me they had to hop a plane, then I saw them talking to another show host (or at a friends party), I would be angry. I don't know why it was handled like that but I would imagine something changed at the last minute. Talking serious matters to a newscaster is a lot different than cracking jokes during a financial crisis, but a phone call to let Letterman know things had changed would have been a nice gesture.

I haven't read McCain's side of things, but having Letterman as an enemy is not good. Then again, when Letterman likes you it can be pretty darned uncomfortable, too. I've never cared for Letterman's politics or some of his humor, but he is someone who has a lot of followers who can be influenced by his comments.

To date, a total of 155 questions have qualified for statewide ballots. 62 of these are citizen initiatives -- most of the rest were referred to the ballot by state legislatures or, in the case of Florida, the state's Taxation and Budget Reform Commission. Three are questions automatically referred by state constitutions, asking voters if they want to hold a constitutional convention.
The total number of ballot questions this year will stay around 150, with at most 63 initiatives. In 2006, the number of initiatives totaled 76, the second-highest total ever (the highest total was 87, which occurred in both 1914 and 1996).

Now to the Paulson Disaster

One of the reasons that Solutions Day has taken on such importance for me is this: We are living through one of the most challenging periods in modern America.

I cannot remember any time in my lifetime when we have had such a combination of big challenges, bad policies, and bad political leaders.

After a summer of failing to solve our energy problems, failing to solve our economic growth problems, failing to get federal spending under control, failing to modernize the health system, we now have an absurd and dangerous proposal to give a former Chairman of Goldman-Sachs $700 billion of our tax money to bail out Wall Street.

Treasury Secretary Paulson had two years to get ahead of the financial problems and failed.

Fool Us Twice, Shame on Us

We were told this summer that when the terrible $300 billion-plus housing-bailout bill passed the Congress it would solve the problem.

It didn't.

President Bush signed a housing bill that gives $500 million a year to ACORN, a very leftwing political organization, because it was going to solve the problem.

It didn't.

Now we are told the next $700 billion spent by Secretary Paulson will solve everything.
It won't.

No Economic Growth = No Recovery = No End to the Financial Decay

The most important thing to remember is that without economic growth there will be no end to the downward spiral.

Without economic growth there will be another bailout next year and another bailout the year after.

The number one goal should be to restore economic growth.

Only through economic growth can we generate the resources to soak up the bad debt and heal the broken institutions which litter the landscape.

In the 1930s, faced with an immediate crisis of bad debt, the government adopted a series of bad ideas - tax increases and regulatory interventions that allowed the Depression to extend until World War II.

If we're not careful we're going to allow bad politics in Washington to lead to bad policies and the result is going to be a long period of weak growth and massive indebtedness.

In other words, politician, lobbyist, bureaucrat and lawyer generated economic decay.

Pro-Growth or Pro-Decay: Silicon Valley or Detroit as America's Economic Future

The stunning difference between a pro-growth and pro-decay policy was driven home by the three days I spent in Silicon Valley late last week.

While Washington and Wall Street were in a panic, the venture capitalists, entrepreneurs and creators of new technologies, new solutions and new wealth in Silicon Valley were too busy inventing the future to worry about Secretary Paulson.

I drove a Tesla, a new electric sports car that goes 0 to 60 in 3.8 seconds. It is a Silicon Valley invention built in San Jose. It is telling that it was not designed by the old auto world or produced in Detroit.

While Silicon Valley has been creating new wealth, new technology and new products, the city of Detroit has been decaying. In 1950, Detroit had 1,800,000 people and the highest per capita income in the United States. Today Detroit is below 900,000 people (the first major American city to drop below a million) and ranks 62nd in per capita income. Half the housing stock in Detroit is unneeded. Imagine what that does to the value of the rest of the housing supply.
Silicon Valley is a product of a combination of science, technology, entrepreneurship, venture capital and very educated people.

Detroit is the product of two generations of bad politicians, bad bureaucracy, high taxes and crime.

We are at a crossroads between Silicon Valley and Detroit.

The Paulson bailout would move us one step further toward Detroit and a failed future.

Secretary Paulson, Meet Lord Acton

In the mid 19th century, Lord Acton warned that "power tends to corrupt. Absolute power corrupts absolutely." Note that he dropped "tends" in the second sentence.

Secretary Paulson's proposal for a $700 billion grant of power with no legislative oversight and no judicial review is a fundamental violation of Lord Acton's principle. It is an invitation to corruption and tyranny.

If Russian leader Vladimir Putin had written the plan, I would have understood it. But having an American Secretary of the Treasury write such a plan is such a fundamental violation of our constitutional processes that it makes you wonder how Secretary Paulson can serve in the Cabinet.

Danger One: Crony Capitalism

The first danger of the Paulson bailout proposal is that it will create crony capitalism. People who are failing in business will hire lobbyists and curry favor with politicians to protect them from their own mistakes.

You cannot have capitalism on the way up and socialism on the way down.

You cannot create a welfare state for rich investors.

Danger Two: Bureaucratic Capitalism

The other great danger of the Paulson bailout is that to avoid crony capitalism we will create bureaucratic capitalism.

Already there is talk of salary caps and other government regulatory requirements which would drive the "private" out of "private enterprise."

Bureaucratic enterprise is no replacement for free enterprise - it's a contradiction in terms.
The Paulson bailout holds the potential to slow down American economic growth for another decade.

Or, as in the case of Detroit, forever.

What Should We Do?

As I wrote on Sunday on National Review Online here are four immediate steps we can take:
Eliminate the "mark to market" accounting provision which is driving companies into bankruptcy unnecessarily.

Repeal the Sarbanes-Oxley law which failed in every case this year and which burdens new companies with a $3 million-a-year accounting fee.

Join China and Singapore in eliminating the capital gains tax and watch money pour into the system from private investors at no cost to the taxpayer.

Pass a strong energy bill to return at least $500 billion a year in energy money to the United States.

If we had an extra $5 trillion in energy spending in our economy in the next ten years with a zero capital gains tax and a liberated entrepreneurial sector no longer crippled by Sarbanes-Oxley we would generate the wealth to absorb all the current losses.

A No-Growth Bailout Just Sets the Stage for More Bailouts

Congress should pass no bailout without attaching a powerful economic growth component to it.
A bailout in isolation simply sets the stage for more bailouts.

In the absence of economic growth the economy will decay and debts will decay and they will be back next year for even more of your money.

Economic growth is the only way to get America on the right track.

Action item: Call your Congressman and Senator today and demand they vote "no" on Paulson and "yes" on economic growth.

The MFI Is An Early Intervention Mechanism That Will Help Financial Institutions Avoid Bankruptcy And Expensive Bailouts While Protecting Their Customers. The MFI will minimize the use of taxpayer money by having an orderly process to address the market crisis. Working with the private sector and regulators, the MFI will help identify troubled institutions and take action to strengthen them before they become insolvent.

The MFI Will Provide Troubled Institutions With An Orderly Process To Identify Bad Loans, Provide Funding And Eventually Sell Them At A Profit. This will get the Treasury and other financial regulators in a proactive position instead of reacting to one troubled institution after another.

The Structure Of The Mortgage And Financial Institutions Trust (MFI):

The MFI Will Be Part Of The U.S. Department Of The Treasury. The MFI will be managed by a board of directors consisting of at least the Secretary of the Treasury, Federal Reserve Chairman, Chairman of the FDIC and two public members. The Secretary of the Treasury will be Chairman of the Board. Under the MFI process:

· Troubled institutions will voluntarily come to the MFI.
· The MFI will provide liquidity loans at reasonable interest rates. The MFI will receive warrants for controlling interest in troubled institutions.
· Troubled financial institutions that enter the MFI will keep operating as private companies with the help of the MFI.
· The MFI will supervise the sale of loan assets at market prices and purchase them as necessary.
· The MFI will eventually, and at its discretion, sell the loans to the private sector.
· The MFI will have a predetermined tenure during which to dispose of the loans.
· The MFI will return all profits to the U.S. Department of the Treasury and taxpayers.

I think Joe Biden has hit on something.

Since this is such a great patriotic thing to do, then all the Democrats who support Obama should just go ahead, line up, cut checks to the government and hand them over.

Why wait until Obama is elected (please no!) to do your patriotic duty? Patriotism has nothing to do with your Party. If you love your country you should not want to wait for Obama to take office! Show your support for Obama by sending your donations to the government rather than to Obama. Go ahead and figure out what your new tax rate will cost you and send it now.

If you don't want to send your money to the government then just find some folks you want to support and start sending them a monthly check. If enough people chose to follow Joe Biden's patriotic lead then we could do away with Welfare, homelessness and all that ails our country.

You'd think Sarah was running for President instead of Vice Prez the way the media is going after her! They are vetting her better than they ever vetted Barack Obama! When put on the spot they say something about John McCain's age or something about the public vetting Barack Obama for the entire campaign. What a crock.

Let 'em go after Joe Biden like that and the storm would be ferocious! Especially since there's a lot to go after with his long record.

Barack has done nothing of note. I can't believe the public is eating him up like they are doing! Of course, this is the public that bows down at the altar of Hollywood and Jerry Springer, so who am I kidding? They're begging for someone to lead them like the Pied Piper.

It's funny, every time I write something in this blog I wonder how long I'll be able to say something negative about Barack Obama and be allowed? I wonder if someday I'll be traced and the thought police will be knocking on my door. Where is this country headed when the people who say they want free speech protest and beat up people who speak things they don't agree with?

Sarah Palin is a breath of REAL fresh air in this mixed up world of politics. I love it that she speaks her mind and I sure with she didn't have to be hobbled during the election. I can see she's listening real well to the handlers and towing the party line for now. But when she and McCain get to Washington there's not a doubt in my mind things are going to change.

Listen closely to what Barack Obama is saying people. He isn't saying change, he's saying more of the same. In politics, words are cheap. What really counts are actions. Democrats and Republicans have talked about fiscal responsibility for years. In reality, both parties have a shameful record of wasting hundreds of billions of tax dollars on pork-barrel projects.

My Senate colleague Barack Obama is now attacking Gov. Sarah Palin over earmarks. Having worked with both John McCain and Mr. Obama on earmarks, and as a recovering earmarker myself, I can tell you that Mrs. Palin's leadership and record of reform stands well above that of Mr. Obama.

Let's compare.

Mrs. Palin used her veto pen to slash more local projects than any other governor in the state's history. She cut nearly 10% of Alaska's budget this year, saving state residents $268 million. This included vetoing a $30,000 van for Campfire USA and $200,000 for a tennis court irrigation system. She succinctly justified these cuts by saying they were "not a state responsibility."

Meanwhile in Washington, Mr. Obama voted for numerous wasteful earmarks last year, including: $12 million for bicycle paths, $450,000 for the International Peace Museum, $500,000 for a baseball stadium and $392,000 for a visitor's center in Louisiana.

Mrs. Palin cut Alaska's federal earmark requests in half last year, one of the strongest moves against earmarks by any governor. It took real leadership to buck Alaska's decades-long earmark addiction.

Mr. Obama delivered over $100 million in earmarks to Illinois last year and has requested nearly a billion dollars in pet projects since 2005. His running mate, Joe Biden, is still indulging in earmarks, securing over $90 million worth this year.

Mrs. Palin also killed the infamous Bridge to Nowhere in her own state. Yes, she once supported the project: But after witnessing the problems created by earmarks for her state and for the nation's budget, she did what others like me have done: She changed her position and saved taxpayers millions. Even the Alaska Democratic Party credits her with killing the bridge.

When the Senate had its chance to stop the Bridge to Nowhere and transfer the money to Katrina rebuilding, Messrs. Obama and Biden voted for the $223 million earmark, siding with the old boys' club in the Senate. And to date, they still have not publicly renounced their support for the infamous earmark.

Mrs. Palin has proven courageous by taking on big spenders in her own party. In March of this year, the Anchorage Daily News reported that, "Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens is aggravated about what he sees as Gov. Sarah Palin's antagonism toward the earmarks he uses to steer federal money to the state."

Mr. Obama had a chance to take on his party when Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid offered a sham ethics bill, which was widely criticized by watchdog groups such as Citizens Against Government Waste for shielding earmarks from pubic scrutiny. But instead of standing with taxpayers, Mr. Obama voted for the bill. Today, he claims he helped write the bill that failed to clean up Washington.

Mr. Obama has shown little restraint on earmarks until this year, when he decided to co-sponsor an earmark moratorium authored by Mr. McCain and myself. Mr. Obama is vulnerable on this issue, and he knows it. That is why he is lashing out at Mrs. Palin and trying to hide his own record.

Mrs. Palin is one of the strongest antiearmark governors in America. If more governors around the country would do what she has done, we would be much closer to fixing our nation's fiscal problems than we are.

Mrs. Palin's record here is solid and inspiring. She will help Mr. McCain shut down the congressional favor factory, and she has a record to prove it. Actions mean something. You can't just make stuff up.

A "Real" Woman

I think one of the reasons Sarah Palin is catching the attention and enthusiasm of so many is because she comes across as "real". She drives her own car to work (which will change once she's VP I'm sure, for security reasons!). She has kids who act out at times, who aren't perfect. She sticks to her guns on issues (ha ha, no pun intended with the gun thing). She works her butt off and gets things done. She has principles. She's willing to change her mind and makes no excuses about it.

Barack is going after the change mantra that Sarah Palin and John McCain have adopted. It's a different kind of change. It's change Washington. It's a change of ethics. Obama has shown he's just more Washington. He can be jerked around by the insiders. He isn't independent. He comes across as someone who's just talking the same old talk.

I've listened to him and listened and once you get away from all the somewhat great delivery it's empty. I read his releases, I get all his stuff. Sorry, no substance.

Now Palin on the other hand has substance.

Changing subjects just a bit here, I've been reading some other blogs about Sarah Palin. She is being hit from all sides with stuff that has been proven to be false, yet they keep saying it over and over giving it new life. I have found a few positive blogs, but it's hard and I don't think that's because they're not there, I think the search engines are owned by a bunch of liberals who are probably going through and changing the listing parameters so the positive ones won't show. Hmmm, I wonder what words they'd use? I bet they make sure if a blog has Sarah or Palin in the title it won't get on the engines.

Yes, I know I'm sounding paranoid or conspiratorial, but try to find the good blogs about her and you'll find they aren't listed on the first umpteen pages at all. I had to get real creative to find stuff, but I did. I'll try to add it to the sidebar when I have a minute (assuming anyone is reading this or has even been able to find it!)

I was shocked when I saw the video and started hearing all the things this amazing woman has done. I had no idea.

You'd think the press would be writing about the candidate's wives wouldn't you? I mean, yea-yuh, their husbands are running for office, but these days it's good to know the entire family character.

Little side note on the difference between the two women. Both went on The View at different times as a host (or guest, whatever they call them). Obama's wife gave them a list of off-limit topics not to be touched on, brought up, mentioned, thought about during her time on The View. Cindy McCain? No requirements. Everything open and nothing off limits.

So much for free speech, open government, women of substance who can take care of themselves.... ya know, the modern woman, independent, free thinking, strong... unless you're Michelle Obama.

Cindy McCain has more foreign policy experience than Biden and Obama put together. That woman gives. She has done more REAL community organizing than Obama dreamed about during his time organizing whatever it was he organized. She fixed it so kids lived and it's obvious she's color blind when it comes to skin color and caring.

She brought home babies from other countries, loved them, raised them long before Madonna and whatever other Hollywood so-called-star ever thought of it.

She's independent. She's strong. She's caring. She gives. She's intelligent. She loves her family. She loves her country. Sure she has money, but it sure didn't turn her into a Paris Hilton. Her foundation gives and gives. She has a heart for giving.

Look at the way the kids from John McCain's first family treated her! They hugged, kissed cheeks and obviously had high regard for her. I understand John McCain's ex-wife has a McCain sign on her yard! You don't see that kind of relationship in most cases of divorce! We're talking about people of high caliber here, people who live their principles and don't expect Washington to take care of their principles for them.

No wonder John McCain was comfortable picking Sarah Palin! I love the way Cindy McCain talks about Sarah, too. She doesn't have any anxiety about who she is as a person. Strong women aren't intimidated by other strong women, they welcome them!

Unemployment up

Do ya think the fact that they increased the minimum wage might have something to do with less jobs? increased unemployment?

I have a small business. Adding 70 cents an hour to the minimum wage means not hiring someone, not adding that new job I wanted and needed.

Every time there's a Presidential election whoever has Congress makes sure they screw up the economy just enough for the incumbent President to look bad.

Gas prices are up? So why not drill??? Why haven't we done it before now? If we'd opened up the areas that are off limits years back then we wouldn't be having this kind of problem now.

The press keeps cramming down our throats that the economy stinks. Anyone who talks facts, shares numbers is killed in the press.

The American people are becoming sheep and that is not a good place to be. What happened to our independent spirit, the one that had us really looking at things, taking care of ourselves?

I heard about an article in the Wall Street with the true economic numbers. Gotta go find it 'cause things aren't anywhere near as bad as people are saying. But I'm as bad as anyone else, I keep hearing it so I'm putting off buying this or that, making things last a bit longer, making sure I'm clipping those coupons (which I should be doing anyway).

Gas prices are making me think a bit when I'm going out. Instead of jumping in the car and going here today, there tomorrow, I'm planning so I can make loops.

But I still buy my Monsters, go through the drive-through, order pizza delivery, buy my little treats.

Mr. Chairman, delegates, and fellow citizens: I am honored to be considered for the nomination for vice president of the United States.

I accept the call to help our nominee for president to serve and defend America.

I accept the challenge of a tough fight in this election against confident opponents at a crucial hour for our country.

And I accept the privilege of serving with a man who has come through much harder missions ... and met far graver challenges and knows how tough fights are won — the next president of the United States, John S. McCain.

It was just a year ago when all the experts in Washington counted out our nominee because he refused to hedge his commitment to the security of the country he loves.

With their usual certitude, they told us that all was lost — there was no hope for this candidate who said that he would rather lose an election than see his country lose a war.

But the pollsters and pundits overlooked just one thing when they wrote him off.

They overlooked the caliber of the man himself — the determination, resolve, and sheer guts of Sen. John McCain. The voters knew better.

And maybe that's because they realize there is a time for politics and a time for leadership ... a time to campaign and a time to put our country first.

Our nominee for president is a true profile in courage, and people like that are hard to come by.
He's a man who wore the uniform of this country for 22 years and refused to break faith with those troops in Iraq who have now brought victory within sight.

And as the mother of one of those troops, that is exactly the kind of man I want as commander in chief. I'm just one of many moms who'll say an extra prayer each night for our sons and daughters going into harm's way.

Our son Track is 19.

And one week from tomorrow — Sept. 11 — he'll deploy to Iraq with the Army infantry in the service of his country.

My nephew Kasey also enlisted and serves on a carrier in the Persian Gulf.

My family is proud of both of them and of all the fine men and women serving the country in uniform. Track is the eldest of our five children.

In our family, it's two boys and three girls in between — my strong and kind-hearted daughters, Bristol, Willow and Piper.

And in April, my husband, Todd, and I welcomed our littlest one into the world, a perfectly beautiful baby boy named Trig. From the inside, no family ever seems typical.

That's how it is with us.

Our family has the same ups and downs as any other — the same challenges and the same joys.
Sometimes even the greatest joys bring challenge.

And children with special needs inspire a special love.

To the families of special-needs children all across this country, I have a message: For years, you sought to make America a more welcoming place for your sons and daughters.

I pledge to you that if we are elected, you will have a friend and advocate in the White House. Todd is a story all by himself.

He's a lifelong commercial fisherman ... a production operator in the oil fields of Alaska's North Slope ... a proud member of the United Steel Workers Union ... and world champion snow machine racer.

Throw in his Yup'ik Eskimo ancestry, and it all makes for quite a package.

We met in high school, and two decades and five children later he's still my guy. My mom and dad both worked at the elementary school in our small town.

And among the many things I owe them is one simple lesson: that this is America, and every woman can walk through every door of opportunity.

My parents are here tonight, and I am so proud to be the daughter of Chuck and Sally Heath. Long ago, a young farmer and haberdasher from Missouri followed an unlikely path to the vice presidency.

A writer observed: "We grow good people in our small towns, with honesty, sincerity, and dignity." I know just the kind of people that writer had in mind when he praised Harry Truman.
I grew up with those people.

They are the ones who do some of the hardest work in America who grow our food, run our factories and fight our wars.

They love their country, in good times and bad, and they're always proud of America. I had the privilege of living most of my life in a small town.

I was just your average hockey mom and signed up for the PTA because I wanted to make my kids' public education better.

When I ran for City Council, I didn't need focus groups and voter profiles because I knew those voters, and knew their families, too.

Before I became governor of the great state of Alaska, I was mayor of my hometown.
And since our opponents in this presidential election seem to look down on that experience, let me explain to them what the job involves.

I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a "community organizer," except that you have actual responsibilities. I might add that in small towns, we don't quite know what to make of a candidate who lavishes praise on working people when they are listening, and then talks about how bitterly they cling to their religion and guns when those people aren't listening.

We tend to prefer candidates who don't talk about us one way in Scranton and another way in San Francisco.

As for my running mate, you can be certain that wherever he goes, and whoever is listening, John McCain is the same man. I'm not a member of the permanent political establishment. And I've learned quickly, these past few days, that if you're not a member in good standing of the Washington elite, then some in the media consider a candidate unqualified for that reason alone.
But here's a little news flash for all those reporters and commentators: I'm not going to Washington to seek their good opinion. I'm going to Washington to serve the people of this country. Americans expect us to go to Washington for the right reasons, and not just to mingle with the right people.

Politics isn't just a game of clashing parties and competing interests.

The right reason is to challenge the status quo, to serve the common good, and to leave this nation better than we found it.

No one expects us to agree on everything.

But we are expected to govern with integrity, good will, clear convictions, and ... a servant's heart.

I pledge to all Americans that I will carry myself in this spirit as vice president of the United States. This was the spirit that brought me to the governor's office, when I took on the old politics as usual in Juneau ... when I stood up to the special interests, the lobbyists, big oil companies, and the good-ol' boys network.

Sudden and relentless reform never sits well with entrenched interests and power brokers. That's why true reform is so hard to achieve.

But with the support of the citizens of Alaska, we shook things up.

And in short order we put the government of our state back on the side of the people.

I came to office promising major ethics reform, to end the culture of self-dealing. And today, that ethics reform is the law.

While I was at it, I got rid of a few things in the governor's office that I didn't believe our citizens should have to pay for.

That luxury jet was over the top. I put it on eBay.

I also drive myself to work.

And I thought we could muddle through without the governor's personal chef — although I've got to admit that sometimes my kids sure miss her. I came to office promising to control spending — by request if possible and by veto if necessary.

Sen. McCain also promises to use the power of veto in defense of the public interest — and as a chief executive, I can assure you it works.

Our state budget is under control.

We have a surplus.

And I have protected the taxpayers by vetoing wasteful spending: nearly half a billion dollars in vetoes.

I suspended the state fuel tax and championed reform to end the abuses of earmark spending by Congress.

I told the Congress "thanks, but no thanks," for that Bridge to Nowhere.

If our state wanted a bridge, we'd build it ourselves. When oil and gas prices went up dramatically, and filled up the state treasury, I sent a large share of that revenue back where it belonged — directly to the people of Alaska.

And despite fierce opposition from oil company lobbyists, who kind of liked things the way they were, we broke their monopoly on power and resources.

As governor, I insisted on competition and basic fairness to end their control of our state and return it to the people.

I fought to bring about the largest private-sector infrastructure project in North American history.

And when that deal was struck, we began a nearly 40 billion-dollar natural gas pipeline to help lead America to energy independence.

That pipeline, when the last section is laid and its valves are opened, will lead America one step farther away from dependence on dangerous foreign powers that do not have our interests at heart.

The stakes for our nation could not be higher.

When a hurricane strikes in the Gulf of Mexico, this country should not be so dependent on imported oil that we are forced to draw from our Strategic Petroleum Reserve.

And families cannot throw away more and more of their paychecks on gas and heating oil.
With Russia wanting to control a vital pipeline in the Caucasus, and to divide and intimidate our European allies by using energy as a weapon, we cannot leave ourselves at the mercy of foreign suppliers.

To confront the threat that Iran might seek to cut off nearly a fifth of world energy supplies ... or that terrorists might strike again at the Abqaiq facility in Saudi Arabia ... or that Venezuela might shut off its oil deliveries ... we Americans need to produce more of our own oil and gas.
And take it from a gal who knows the North Slope of Alaska: We've got lots of both.

Our opponents say, again and again, that drilling will not solve all of America's energy problems — as if we all didn't know that already.

But the fact that drilling won't solve every problem is no excuse to do nothing at all.
Starting in January, in a McCain-Palin administration, we're going to lay more pipelines ... build more nuclear plants ... create jobs with clean coal ... and move forward on solar, wind, geothermal and other alternative sources.

We need American energy resources, brought to you by American ingenuity, and produced by American workers. I've noticed a pattern with our opponent.

Maybe you have, too.

We've all heard his dramatic speeches before devoted followers.

And there is much to like and admire about our opponent.

But listening to him speak, it's easy to forget that this is a man who has authored two memoirs but not a single major law or reform — not even in the state Senate.

This is a man who can give an entire speech about the wars America is fighting and never use the word "victory" except when he's talking about his own campaign. But when the cloud of rhetoric has passed ... when the roar of the crowd fades away ... when the stadium lights go out, and those Styrofoam Greek columns are hauled back to some studio lot — what exactly is our opponent's plan? What does he actually seek to accomplish, after he's done turning back the waters and healing the planet? The answer is to make government bigger ... take more of your money ... give you more orders from Washington ... and to reduce the strength of America in a dangerous world. America needs more energy ... our opponent is against producing it.

Victory in Iraq is finally in sight ... he wants to forfeit.

Terrorist states are seeking nuclear weapons without delay ... he wants to meet them without preconditions.

Al-Qaida terrorists still plot to inflict catastrophic harm on America ... he's worried that someone won't read them their rights? Government is too big ... he wants to grow it.

Congress spends too much ... he promises more.

Taxes are too high ... he wants to raise them. His tax increases are the fine print in his economic plan, and let me be specific.

The Democratic nominee for president supports plans to raise income taxes ... raise payroll taxes ... raise investment income taxes ... raise the death tax ... raise business taxes ... and increase the tax burden on the American people by hundreds of billions of dollars. My sister Heather and her husband have just built a service station that's now opened for business — like millions of others who run small businesses.

How are they going to be any better off if taxes go up? Or maybe you're trying to keep your job at a plant in Michigan or Ohio ... or create jobs with clean coal from Pennsylvania or West Virginia ... or keep a small farm in the family right here in Minnesota.

How are you going to be better off if our opponent adds a massive tax burden to the American economy? Here's how I look at the choice Americans face in this election.

In politics, there are some candidates who use change to promote their careers.

And then there are those, like John McCain, who use their careers to promote change.

They're the ones whose names appear on laws and landmark reforms, not just on buttons and banners, or on self-designed presidential seals.

Among politicians, there is the idealism of high-flown speechmaking, in which crowds are stirringly summoned to support great things.

And then there is the idealism of those leaders, like John McCain, who actually do great things. They're the ones who are good for more than talk ... the ones we have always been able to count on to serve and defend America. Sen. McCain's record of actual achievement and reform helps explain why so many special interests, lobbyists and comfortable committee chairmen in Congress have fought the prospect of a McCain presidency — from the primary election of 2000 to this very day.

Our nominee doesn't run with the Washington herd.

He's a man who's there to serve his country, and not just his party.

A leader who's not looking for a fight, but is not afraid of one either. Harry Reid, the majority leader of the current do-nothing Senate, not long ago summed up his feelings about our nominee.
He said, quote, "I can't stand John McCain." Ladies and gentlemen, perhaps no accolade we hear this week is better proof that we've chosen the right man. Clearly what the majority leader was driving at is that he can't stand up to John McCain. That is only one more reason to take the maverick of the Senate and put him in the White House. My fellow citizens, the American presidency is not supposed to be a journey of "personal discovery." This world of threats and dangers is not just a community, and it doesn't just need an organizer.

And though both Sen. Obama and Sen. Biden have been going on lately about how they are always, quote, "fighting for you," let us face the matter squarely.

There is only one man in this election who has ever really fought for you ... in places where winning means survival and defeat means death ... and that man is John McCain. In our day, politicians have readily shared much lesser tales of adversity than the nightmare world in which this man, and others equally brave, served and suffered for their country.

It's a long way from the fear and pain and squalor of a 6-by-4 cell in Hanoi to the Oval Office.
But if Sen. McCain is elected president, that is the journey he will have made.

It's the journey of an upright and honorable man — the kind of fellow whose name you will find on war memorials in small towns across this country, only he was among those who came home.
To the most powerful office on Earth, he would bring the compassion that comes from having once been powerless ... the wisdom that comes even to the captives, by the grace of God ... the special confidence of those who have seen evil, and seen how evil is overcome. A fellow prisoner of war, a man named Tom Moe of Lancaster, Ohio, recalls looking through a pinhole in his cell door as Lt. Cmdr. John McCain was led down the hallway, by the guards, day after day.

As the story is told, "When McCain shuffled back from torturous interrogations, he would turn toward Moe's door and flash a grin and thumbs up" — as if to say, "We're going to pull through this." My fellow Americans, that is the kind of man America needs to see us through these next four years.

For a season, a gifted speaker can inspire with his words.

For a lifetime, John McCain has inspired with his deeds.

If character is the measure in this election ... and hope the theme ... and change the goal we share, then I ask you to join our cause. Join our cause and help America elect a great man as the next president of the United States.

Obama has talked change but his first big action, picking a vice president sure wasn't about change. He picked an old guy who's been in Washington forever. Neither one of them has ever done anything much other than politics.

Change, change, change.

All kinds of change and I love change, life is boring without it, and you sure can't live in this world anymore without embracing it! But there is good change and bad change and I am not thinking Obama's change is something we're going to appreciate if he gets his way.

Biden Bloopers.

Biden tain't tellin' de trute is more like it.

I don't often listen to talk radio, usually working, like music, prefer to read my dose of punditness.

Today flipped on radio and heard one of the talk guys sharing a recording of Joe Biden in Florida telling a group he and Obama would prosecute Bush if they took office. He said something along the lines of "if" they found cause, if they found criminality or war crimes or something. He gave himself an out on it by the "if we found" clause, but he still told 'em what they wanted to hear. It was filmed. It was recorded. He knew it was recorded.

The next day or a few days later he was asked about it by a talk show host (TV I think), the name didn't stick. He said he absolutely had not said anything like that.

So the talk radio guy plays him saying he would, then plays him saying he didn't say it.

What kind of guy did Obama pick? If he can't remember what he said from one day to the next, how's he going to handle diplomacy.

Contrast that kind of action with Ms. Breath-of-fresh-air-NOT-Washington Sarah Palin. John McCain done good and it just keeps getting better.

I was so impressed with her last night. She was funny, intelligent, talked to everyone, showed heart and a strong core. The joke she flipped out without missing a beat was great!

Gotta love it. Gotta love her.

Wasn't her youngest just adorable? What a hoot when she started licking her hand and smoothing the babies hair down. It's the kind of thing that Mom would probably stop real quickly, but it was funny.

Nuff for now. Going to be listening to Cindy McCain later, another great woman with a core of gold.

What's the difference between Sarah Palin and a pitbull? Lipstick. Yep, took her hockey mom joke and made it better .

McCain picked the BEST VP candidate ever! What a choice. Love the outside Washington choice. Love the brains. Love the style. And yes, LOVE the experience.
